PLANCKS can be split up into two events, the international final and the country preliminary. In the UK and Republic of Ireland, the IOP hosts the annual preliminary event, as well as the 2020 and 2024 finals.
IAPS oversees the international finals, with member countries bidding to host it every year.
Both organisations do a lot more than just PLANCKS, find out below!
Institute of Physics
The IOP is the professional body and learned society for physics in the UK and Ireland, inspiring people to develop their knowledge, understanding and enjoyment of physics.
Internationally, we build close relations with other national scientific bodies, public and private institutions, as well as its membership to promote and advance the discipline of physics. As an independent body we are able to play the role of a trusted broker and facilitator for cross-border collaboration.
Our relationships and reputation mean we can bring scientists and organisations together from around the world, building the cross-border links that fuel scientific discovery and technological innovation. To find out more about the IOP Student Community, please see our website:

International Association of Physics Students
IAPS (International Association of Physics Students) has worked with academic, professional, and student societies since 1987, to bring students from all around the world together to promote peaceful collaborations amongst them.
Each year IAPS runs several events in its member countries; the two main events being the International Conference for Physics Students and PLANCKS. If you want to find out about the other IAPS events or want to become a member, please visit: www.iaps.info.
